If you’re anything like me, you love staying ahead of the curve, especially when it comes to crochet trends. Whether you sell your finished pieces, create your own patterns or simply just love making things for you and the ones you hold dear, knowing what will be hot the rest of 2025 can give you a serious edge.
I’ve been diving deep (and I mean deep) into the trend forecasts across several industries. I know, I know it’s almost April but for my fellow market goers. This is when it matters most. I’ve dug into home decor, fashion, wellness and even toys to see how all of these can influence the rest of the year. Now, let’s be real: I’m not a trend forecaster, and I don’t have a crochet crystal ball, but I do love a good prediction. So, grab your favorite hook and settle in with your yarn stash and let’s talk about what’s coming in the crochet world!
1. Home Decor- Texture, Color & Maximalism. Crochet has always been a home decor favorite and this year it’s about to get even bigger. Here’s what’s trending:
- Bold, textured pieces: forget minimalist neutrals-home decor is shifting towards bold colors, rich textures, and natural elements. That means crocheted throws, pillows, and even wall hangings will be in high demand
- Color-drenched rooms: Instead of mixing a ton of different colors, we’re seeing more monochrome looks where everything- walls, trim and furniture-matches. This could mean a rise in single color crochet projects like solid tone blankets and accessories.
- Curves, curves, curves! Rounded furniture and decor are trending, which means round crochet projects are (think, poufs, baskets, pillows and tablecloths) are about to have a moment.
A little tip…. Pantone’s Mocha Mousse. This rich Chocolatey brown that screams cozy sophistication. (if you’ve got brown in your stash, congrats.. You’re ahead of the game already!!)
2.Fashion: Sustainability, Nostalgia & Granny Squares (STILL!) Fashion trends always influence crochet, and 2025 is ALL about:
- Sustainable, upcycled fashion: People all over are repurposing old clothes by adding crochet elements, patching jeans with crocheted designs, embellishing thrifted jackets and giving worn out piece’s new life.
- ’90s and early 2000s nostalgia: Everything from bucket hats to cropped cardigans is sticking around. If you wore it in 1998, chances are it’s cool again.
- Athleisure meets crochet: Think sporty crop tops, slouchy leg warmers, wristbands and water bottle holders.
- Granny squares aren’t’ going anywhere!!! They’re nostalgic, beginner-friendly, and sustainable (stash busters!!!). Whether in bold colors or a single shade, granny square pieces will still be in style next year.
3.Toys: STEM, Sensory & Nostalgic Amigurumi. Crocheted toys aren’t just for kids anymore (though they certainly LOVE them).
- STEM & Space themed toys: Expect more Crocheted astronauts, rockets and solar system-inspired designs.
- Sensory Toys: Textured amigurumi and fidget toys will gain popularity, catering to kids and even adults with special needs.
- Nostalgic throwbacks: 90s and early 2000s toys like Tamagotchis, Furbies and pixelated characters might make a comeback in amigurumi form. One thing to be super cautious of though, COPYRIGHTED CHARACTERS (like Pokémon, Disney, or Harry Potter). These can land you in trouble. But on the flipside publishers are working with crochet designers to release official pattern books- so we may see even more of those by the end of the year
4.Wellness: Crochet for Mental Health & Self Care. Crochet has long been praised for its stress-relieving benefits, and I think in 2025 will see an even bigger push toward mindfulness and self-care through craft. Some Crochet projects that will be extra popular:
- Weighted blankets for relaxation
- Hot water bottle covers for cozy nights
- Eye masks for better sleep
- Neck wraps & face scrubbies for spa-like self-care.
- We’re also seeing a surge in crochet projects for book lovers. Think bookmarks, book sleeves, tote bags, and e-reader covers. Because what’s better than curling up with a good book and a soft, handmade crochet blanket?
What This Means for You as a Crocheter. How can you take advantage of these trends? Here’s a few ideas:
- If you sell finished pieces, focus on sustainable, textured and colorful home decor items, nostalgic fashion pieces and sensory-friendly toys.
- If you design crochet patterns, create on trend patterns for bold home decor, ’90s inspired accessories and rounded crochet pieces.
- If you blog or create content, write about sustainable yarns trending colors and crochet’s benefits for mental health. These topics are going to be hot!
Final Thoughts, what do you think?
Will these trends stick? Only time will tell! But one thing is for sure 2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year for crochet. What trends are you excited about? Leave a comment here on the blog, I’d love to see what you think. Don’t forget to share with your fellow crocheters. Happy Stitching!!!
